FAMILY
Stress is a factor in most of our lives and is something that needs to be addressed in order to ensure that our family relationships and bonds with each other stay strong.
Family yoga is one of the best ways for parents and children to share quality time together and has been proven to have an immediate, positive effect on our family life.
Utilizing the ‘RainbowKids Yoga’ philosophy, Lakeside Yoga 4 All family yoga classes are structured in such a way that families practice together assisting each other in poses and encouraging discussion and dialogue. Team work, collaboration and trust are regularly used during the class creating ties and strengthening the relationships within the family.
One of the most important benefits of family yoga is that it teaches adults how to play, something most of us have forgotten how to do. We often get too involved with our disciplinarian roles, teaching our kids right and wrong, what to do and what not to do. Family yoga can reawaken our childlike essence by providing laughs, dancing, dreaming, being silly and reminding us how we once played.

KIDS
The regular discipline of yoga helps growing children to channel and direct their emotional energies in a constructive and non-competitive manner. It helps them to improve their concentration, as well as balance and body awareness, both emotionally and physically.
Even at a young age, children often feel pressure at school academically and socially. It is easy for them to become overly self-critical, and lose confidence in themselves as they grow and change. Yoga is a way to relieve that stress as no judgment is passed in a yoga class about how a child does a pose or plays a game. There is no “Perfect Pose” in Yoga. The practice of yoga's goal is to get to know the body and to connect with the mind. In that way Yoga nurtures a child’s inner strength and self acceptance.
Lakeside Yoga 4 All is part of the Rainbow Yoga Community, that believes yoga classes has to be done in a format that's between spontaneity and structure, so that children learn to listen to themselves and each other as well as express themselves creatively. By connecting stories, songs, games and poses with their bodies and imagination, children learn in a multi-sensory environment.
It is important to know that Lakeside Yoga 4 All's Kids Yoga is suitable for ALL Kids. Classes are divided by range of ages, 2 1/2 to 4 and 5 to 9 years old, making the practice physically and mentally harmonic with each stage of their life.

A study done by the University of California in 2003 of children in a Los Angeles school found that children who had frequent yoga instruction showed significant increases in children’s self esteem, as well as overall fitness, academic performance, and even a decrease in discipline problems as students felt more relaxed and were more respectful of their classmates.
A regular Yoga practice has been shown to activate both the nervous and respiratory systems combining three main components as follows;
- Postures (Asanas) - develops strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and body awareness
- Breathing – strengthens and supplies fresh oxygen to the lungs, nourishing the brain cells and the rest of the organs. Practicing regular deep breathing supports speech and postural stability as well as releases mental anxiety making the mind clear and quiet resulting in improved concentration.
- Meditation and Relaxation - helps the body to absorb all the benefits of the previous Asanas while reducing the stress of the daily living experience.
